Ffresh Talent, part of Ffresh, the Student Media Festival of Wales, have announced animation and VFX BFI Film Academies for early 2018.

The eight-day courses will give young people between the ages of 16-19, living in Wales, the opportunity to achieve a unit 1 NCFE Level 2 ‘Preparing to work in film’ award.

Ffresh Talent will be collaborating with The University of Wales Trinity St David’s in Swansea to deliver a course on VFX and The University of South Wales in Cardiff to focus on animation. They will be working with some of the top organisations in the industry, such as NextGen Skills Academy, Bait Studio, and Cloth Cat Animation.

Bursaries are open to eligible young people whose circumstances may not normally permit them to take up this sort of opportunity. Bursaries will cover aspects like transport, accommodation and childcare costs and will be available to any eligible young person living in Wales.

The course will run from January 8th – January 12th (9am - 5pm), January 17th (4pm - 7pm) , January 24th (3pm – 7pm) and February 2nd (4pm - 7pm). Closing date for applications is November 1 2017.
