Celebrating Shakespeare

As we commemorate 400 years of Shakespeare, we take a look at his legacy on film and the relevance of his stories in Wales and beyond with discussions, workshops and specially commissioned programme notes for children and adults.

Events co–ordinated by the British Council as part of the Shakespeare Lives season celebrating the 400th anniversary of the bard’s death.

My Own Private Idaho

Two best friends living on the streets of Portland as hustlers embark on a journey of self–discovery which takes them to Mike’s hometown in Idaho and far beyond. Loosely based on Henry IV parts 1 and 2 and Henry V, this landmark in queer cinema gives us a chance to take a fresh look at Shakespeare’s words in a modern context.

+ Join us for a post–film discussion from our LGBTQ Lavender Screen group about queer representation in Shakespeare.
