This project is all about encouraging community spirit by uncovering and digitising archive footage of local events in Shropshire, Herefordshire ac Mid Wales, so that everybody can see them and share their own memories about local life. Flicks in the Sticks will also travel around Wales to deliver special outreach archive screenings with Film Hub Wales members in other areas.
The project has only just begun, but ultimately the aim is to create an online ‘memory map’ of digitised archive footage here on the Flicks in the Sticks wefan Canolfan Ffilm Cymru, where you can view the films, leave comments and share your own memories about your community.
This project needs YOUR help! Flick in the Sticks are looking for any films that people may have of local events, such as carnivals, fairs and other important community events such as royal visits. If you or somebody you know might have such a film, which you could contribute to the project, please email biggerpicture@artsalive.co.uk
Take a look at the project page for more information PLUS some archive fillms that have already been uploaded yma (on the map). 74 films were uncovered from communities across the regions and over 50,000 people engaged with the films online.
