Under 30s and Film

In July 2018 the BFI Audience Fund awarded BIFA National Lottery funding to undertake a project of substantial research into better understanding what under 30s are watching, where, why and with who in order to shape future activity getting and keeping audiences engaged with British independent film.

The project was one of the recommendations of the BFI’s Independent Film Commission, and the research has now been published by BIFA, with the qualitative, quantitative and social listening data open for all the industry to explore, interpret and put to use.

And the news is good: under 30s love film; are passionate and engaged, seeking authenticity; and believe that the cinema is special.

You can access a summary of the report and request the full research data and insights on the BIFA website here.
