We have awarded National Lottery funding to 19 projects from independent cinemas and film festivals across Wales through our 2025\/26 Film Exhibition Fund.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Funds will bring the latest UK independent and international films to Welsh communities. From a national tour of a classic Welsh animation, to community curated and youth-led screenings, there’s a huge variety of activities to choose from. There are 4 communities that currently have live activities, with one (to be confirmed) in the planning phases:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ynys M\u00f4n (Anglesey)<\/strong>\u00a0– Working with the local authority and Mencap M\u00f4n, films have\u00a0screened at Oriel M\u00f4n in Llangefni, where audiences can explore the gallery and museum before watching the film.\u00a0The project will go on to\u00a0tour the island and screen across a network of venues.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Llanfairfechan<\/strong> – The community are developing cinema screenings in the town’s original cinema, ‘The Luxor’. Having sought funding to install a new projector, the cinema will benefit from DCP, bringing new films to local audiences. They had a grand opening in October, with ‘The Sound of Music’, which had been due to play at the time of the cinema’s closure in 1964. A programme of monthly films will follow.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Llangoed<\/strong> – Working with TAPE, the team at Llangoed have been able to purchase a 4K laser Epson projector. With their new stereo sound system and large-format cinema screen, they can create a truly cinematic experience at Llangoed Village Hall.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Colwyn Bay<\/strong> – TAPE will co-create screenings at their base and amidst the wider\u00a0community\u00a0in partnership with the Media Club, aiming to engage socially isolated audiences.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each screening will have a workshop, guest or masterclass, plus the chance to participate in the development of TAPE\u2019s next feature film project, Below the Waves, which is funded by the Arts Council of Wales. She\u00a0attended weekly, well into 2016 which is clearly a sign of a successful experience!\u00a0Her main role was to create weekly press releases and social media for the film programme. Charlotte even wrote a blog for us called <a href=\"https:\/\/filmhubwales.org\/blog\/fhw-admin\/charlotte-brownhill-work-experience-diaries\">The Work Experience Diaries<\/a>\u00a0where she explained what she was getting up to in the marketing team that week.<\/p>\n<p>The FHW team were excited to hear that Charlotte’s current and future studies have been inspired by her time with the Riverfront team:<\/p>\n<div class=\"sg-block-quote\">\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36.0pt;\">\u201cIt has been a real eye opener and has made me realise a career path I would potentially like to go down. I am also contemplating doing a masters in film curating.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36.0pt;\">\u201cThe experience also became the main point for my dissertation as I wrote it on the importance of marketing in arts community centres.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36.0pt;\"><span style=\"color: #8a9f40;\"><strong>Charlotte Brownhill, University of South Wales student<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Riverfront also found the scheme beneficial:<\/p>\n<div class=\"sg-block-quote\">\n<p style=\"margin-left: 36.0pt;\">\u201cCharlotte was really helpful and a welcome addition to our team. We have not been able to give one staff member the time to focus on marketing our regular cinema programme.
