Introduction to the career of the artist and inventor Denis Curry (1918-2023) whose life and work we explored in Denis Curry: Dreams of Flying. Sculptor, painter, draughtsman, designer, inventor and teacher, Denis spanned a massive change in art training and his work reflects a deep-seated belief that art and science are not two mutually antagonistic aspects of human knowledge that conventional thinking would have it, but that they are joined at the hip. While not so far a household name, the beauty and breadth of his work will surely capture the imagination of anyone willing to give them a look. It's one of the reasons why some of those who knew him gave him the nickname of Renaissance man.
