The History of Welsh Cinema – Learning Resource

April 2026 marks 130 years since the first known cinema screenings in Wales. To celebrate, we’re launching various activities throughout the year.

This bite size resource created by Heledd Wyn, with additions from our team here at Film Hub Wales, is designed to help exhibitors run discussion groups and workshops alongside screenings, enabling audiences to gain a deeper understanding of the journey of Welsh film.

Exhibitors can use this list to book some of the key Welsh films from across each decade.
