Young FAN Consultants

Developing young audiences for independent British and international film plays a key role in the BFI’s 2022 strategy and the future of the British film industry. Film Hub London lead the Young Audiences strategy on behalf of the BFI Film Audience Network (FAN).

The aim is to increase the numbers of 16-30 year olds watching fantastic films in FAN member venues, to boost confidence in FAN exhibitors in programming for this age group and by working with partner organisations Into Film and BFI education, expand the number of opportunities for 16-30 year olds to engage with a wide range of films.

Gathering stories from exhibitors across the UK, exploring the successes and the pitfalls, these will be shared with FAN members as well as a range of initiatives to support FAN working together to encourage more young people to love and value the life changing experience that a trip to the cinema offers!

Young Audiences Champion Kirsten Geekie leads the Young Audiences activity on behalf of Film Hub London and BFI FAN.

The FAN Young Consultants are a 21 strong group of under 30 year olds working in Film Exhibition across the UK who’ve been brought together to represent and provide an authentic youth voice for the Network.

Working with Film Hub London’s Young Audience lead Moira McVean, the group reccommended new release films that they believe will resonate particularly well with their peers and young people aged 16-30.
