BFI GOTHIC & Wales Goes Dark
While the season is now closed, if you’re looking for Gothic themed films, you can find the programme here.
With tales that fed on our darkest fears and desires, winter screens across the UK were filled with woe and wickedness as we dove into the dark heart of film with Wales Goes Dark – part of the 2013/2014 UK-wide BFI blockbuster project… GOTHIC.
Across the nation, Chapter and Film Hub Wales worked with the BFI and our members (Abertoir Horror Film Festival, Aberystwtyh Arts Centre, Gwyn Hall, Torch Theatr, Theatr Clwyd and Llancarfan Community Cinema) to offer a programme of events around the gothic and macabre. The season featured some incredible BFI reissues of British classic horror films including some featuring the great Peter Cushing to celebrate his centenary, new titles from Welsh Talent including Chris Crow’s bloodthirsty Viking tale, The Darkest Day and Chapter Darkened Rooms screenings in some of the most haunted castles and stately homes in Wales which put a shiver in your spine [Literally. Warm clothing was recommended!].
