UKCA and Screen Skills: Coronavirus basic awareness for cinemas training

The UK Cinema Association and the sector skills agency ScreenSkills have launched an online e-learning module and assessment test around COVID-19 for all those working in cinema exhibition.

The Coronavirus basic awareness for cinemas resource is adapted from training originally conceived for film and television production, developed by ScreenSkills with funding from the BFI awarding National Lottery funds and the ScreenSkills High-End TV Skills Fund.

The e-learning module explains the safety measures that cinema staff might expect to find when returning to work following the COVID-19 outbreak, providing basic awareness and understanding of the virus, the key personal responsibilities each cinema team member might expect when returning to work and some of the safety measures that might be implemented at each site.

Take the module

The completion of the module which should take around 40 minutes, with 20 minutes for the assessment online test. Those who successfully complete the assessment test at the end of the e-learning module (answering 80 per cent or more of questions correctly) gain a certificate recognising their understanding in this area.

By the end of this module you will:

  • Understand how the coronavirus is transmitted
  • Be prepared for the protocols your employer will have put in place to reduce the risk of transmission
  • Know how to take care of your work environment and equipment
  • Understand the health and hygiene precautions you can take to protect yourself and others

If you have any questions about the module itself, please contact James Connor at the UKCA on james.connor@cinemauk.org.uk.
