Young FAN Consultants

Developing young audiences for independent British and international film plays a key role in the BFI’s 2022 strategy and the future of the British film industry. Film Hub London is therefore proud to be leading the Young Audiences strategy on behalf of the BFI Film Audience Network (FAN).

We aim to increase the numbers of 16-30 year olds watching fantastic films in FAN member venues, to boost confidence in FAN exhibitors in programming for this age group and by working with partner organisations Into Film and BFI education, expand the number of opportunities for 16-30 year olds to engage with a wide range of films.

Whether you’re an experienced FAN exhibitor running a Young Programmers group, already have a thriving screening or activity programme aimed at developing young audiences, if you’re entirely new to working with this age group or indeed are in this age group yourself, we would love to hear from you.

Gathering stories from exhibitors across the UK, we aim to share the successes and the pitfalls with FAN members and will be introducing a range of initiatives to support FAN working together to encourage more young people to love and value the life changing experience that a trip to the cinema offers!

Young Audiences Co-ordinator Moira McVean will lead Young Audiences activity on behalf of Film Hub London and BFI FAN.

Please get in touch via email Moira.McVean@filmlondon.org.uk or phone: 020 7613 769.

The FAN Young Consultants are a 21 strong group of under 30 year olds working in Film Exhibition across the UK who’ve been brought together to represent and provide an authentic youth voice for the Network.

Working with Film Hub London’s Young Audience lead Moira McVean, the group will be recommending new release films that they believe will resonate particularly well with their peers and young people aged 16-30. These films and marketing/event suggestions from the group will also be shared through the FAN Booking Now newsletter.
